J AND K WEB COLLECTIVE (PTY) LTD ("we", "us", "our") operates the Quick Tools mobile application ("App", "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App uses, how it is used, and what third-party services may be involved.
Quick Tools is designed to work primarily on-device and offline. We do not require account creation, sign-in, cloud sync, or our own backend service for normal app use.
1. Information the App may process on-device
The App may process or store the following information locally on your device:
- app settings such as theme preference, haptic preference, keep-screen-awake preference, measurement system, calibration values, and tool preferences
- camera input for Flashlight, Magnifier, and QR Scanner
- image files you choose through Android's photo picker or gallery picker when scanning a QR code from an image
- generated QR code images that you choose to save or share
- QR code content that you scan or enter, including text, URLs, and Wi-Fi QR details
- sensor readings for tools such as Compass and Bubble Level
- device and battery information displayed inside the App, such as model, Android version, storage, RAM, battery percentage, temperature, or voltage where supported by the device
- local ad-removal entitlement cache and related Google Play purchase verification state
2. Information we do not intentionally collect
Through the normal App flow, we do not intentionally collect or store on our own servers:
- user accounts or personal profiles
- cloud-synced personal records
- live camera feeds
- scanned QR code contents
- generated QR code contents
- magnifier snapshots or generated QR PNG files
- payment card details
- contact lists, SMS content, or microphone recordings
3. Camera, gallery, sensors, and QR tools
Camera images are processed locally on your device for supported tools. The App is not designed to upload your live camera feed to our servers.
QR Scanner uses the camera to detect QR codes and may also analyze an image you select from your gallery or Android's photo picker. Scanned QR results are shown to you first. The App does not automatically open scanned links.
QR Generator creates text, URL, and Wi-Fi QR codes locally on your device. If you generate a Wi-Fi QR code, the QR image may contain the network name and password you entered. Generated QR codes are saved to your device gallery or shared through Android's share sheet only when you choose to do so.
Magnifier snapshots are saved to your device gallery only when you request it.
Motion, orientation, and magnetic sensor readings are used locally to power tools such as Compass and Bubble Level. These readings are not uploaded to our servers.
4. Local storage and retention
Quick Tools stores limited preferences, calibration data, and entitlement cache locally on your device so the App can work consistently.
Local App data remains on your device until you clear the App's data through Android settings or uninstall the App.
Saved magnifier snapshots and generated QR PNG files remain in your device gallery under your control until you delete them.
5. Advertising
The free version of the App may use Google AdMob to display banner advertisements.
Google AdMob and related Google services may process device and advertising-related data in accordance with Google's privacy policies, including:
- device advertising identifiers
- IP address
- general device information
- usage data related to advertising performance
You can manage advertising preferences through your Android or Google account settings.
Google privacy information is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
6. In-app purchases
If you purchase the Remove Ads feature, Google Play Billing is used to process the transaction and verify entitlement.
Google may process purchase-related data in accordance with its own privacy policies. We do not collect or store your payment card information.
7. Third-party services
The App may use third-party services and platform features, including Google AdMob, Google Play Billing, Android camera APIs, Android photo picker or gallery picker, Android share sheet, and QR scanning libraries.
These services or platform components may process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Your choices
You may:
- deny or revoke optional permissions, although affected tools may not function properly
- use the App without creating an account
- scan QR codes from the camera or from images you choose
- choose whether to copy, share, save, or open scanned and generated QR content
- clear App data through Android settings
- uninstall the App at any time
- delete saved gallery images directly from your device
- manage Google ad preferences and Google Play settings through your Google account
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to minimize unnecessary data handling and keep the App lightweight and local-first where practical.
However, no device, application, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your own device and for deciding what QR content you choose to open or share.
10. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the core App flow.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When material changes are made, we will update the Last Updated date above.
Continued use of the App after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
12. Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, subject to any mandatory protections that apply in your jurisdiction.
